Brower Propulsion Laboratory:
BPL-003, Moranic Mission To Montana
Reception: Friday January 22nd 5 - 9pm
Lecture & Demonstration: Saturday January 30th
A series of documents, artifacts, and spacecraft
from the Brower Propulsion Laboratory (BPL)* will be on
view and undergo testing in preparation for BPL’s third
full-scale exploratory mission: BPL-003, Moranic Mission
To Montana. BPL will launch three spacecraft (a lander,
a rover, & an airborne 'nanosatellite') near
Livingston, Montana in 2010.
*BPL is a quasi-fictitious aerospace company created by
Steven Brower in 2007. Brower has used NASA projects as a
basis for his own fictionalized versions of spacecraft,
space suits, robots, and BPL’s corporate structure. The
resulting works are a hybrid of American ingenuity and
irreverent criticality.
EKG programming is made possible by the generous support of the Science Center, The Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, Philadelphia Cultural Fund, Barra Foundation, Advanta, the Philadelphia Exhibitions Initiative, Rittenhouse Foundation, and Provincial Foundation.
